China – Regulation for Wireless Devices

China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has announced a regulation for wireless devices. As of March 1, 2019, all SRRC-approved products including SRRC-approved modules must follow a sales reporting process. Short-range micro power devices are excluded from the regulation. The notice from MIIT can be read here.

Resellers, importers, local representative or manufacturer will be required to register with MIIT within 10 business days of the sale date. If a product has several resellers, each reseller needs to register separately. A local Chinese company will be required to register with MIIT via a web portal.

Once the entity is registered with the MIIT, a registration number and a QR code are to be issued. The registration number and QR code must be displayed at the distribution store or on the website (if the product is to be sold online). If the product is not sold in a store or online the registration number and QR code  must be kept on file.
